Happy Halloween!

Tonight Sutton got to experience his 1st (really his 2nd but he was only 11 days old for his 1st) Halloween night. We had plans to join our friends to go trick or treating but Sutton decided that during his pictures tonight he would take a face plant on our front steps! Ouch!!! The tumble drew blood so it made for a scary costume afterwards, ha ha! Last night Sutton, Mom and Dad carved Sutton's first pumpkin, yeah!! We can't wait for the years to come when we get to walk the neighborhood to go trick or treating. We wanted to go tonight but after his accident, and the 20 degree temps, we figured we best stay inside. We'd love to hear what you did tonight or the favorite costume you saw in your neighborhood.

Hey G Funk, did the naughty nurse make a comeback?

Peace,

Beauty...Taking a Stand

I just got home from Young Life club tonight and we had a blast with the kids. We went trick or treating for candy and the neighborhood that my group went to responded extremely well. We coached the kids and after the homeowner opened the door the kids would say, "Trick or Treat." They would then follow up there statement with, "we are trying to beat the little kids to the good stuff!" Genius!!! People responded very well and they collected candy and canned food items for us to donate to a local food shelf.
Upon my return, I sat down at my Mac and began surfing the blogs. I came across a blog that was talking about the perception of Beauty and had this link CAMPAIGN FOR REAL BEAUTY to click on.
As someone that works with high school students it makes me sick that they continue to battle the pressures of society. If they only knew!!

sleep well,

This is a Test....

Beep Beep Beep... This is a Test of the Emergency Broadcast Network? Seriously, wouldn't it be awesome if you had frieds over on Tuesday nights to watch the "Emergency Broadcast Network" at 8pm. Wives would gather at each other's homes, make snacks, talk about their husbands and watch the EBN channel (what if they Tivo'd it).... Guys would meet at each other's house and instead of watching the World Series, they would tune into the EBN as well

Rub-A-Dub-Dub

Do you think we had fun during bathtime? We couldn't resist turning our son into Colonel Sanders towards the end of the evening. Just wanted to post some recent pictures of Sutton. It is 1 month and counting before baby #2 is due. We are still discussing possible names for our 2nd son, so if you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments.
Check back tomorrow for pictures of Sutton experiencing his 1st Trick Or Treating opportunity. We'll be heading to 50th & France for a morning of costumes and candy (for mom and dad of course).

Enjoy,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUTTON!

To view Sutton's Birthday Slideshow....CLICK HERE

WOW....What an awesome day we had! Sutton woke up at 5am in anticipation of his BIG day. We made pancakes (and bacon for mom/dad & grandma/grandpa), and got ready for the birthday bash. Mom made some lasagne and salad for the friends and family that joined us. I must say, it did get a little overwhelming once the sugar began to set in. I think every kid that came for Sutton's party thought that it was their birthday. We had a great time and are going to spend the weekend recovering after this one-of-a-kind experience. Thanks to everyone that came in support of the big "S" turning 1 year old.

Peace,

Great shots VP Fam...

I love these photos from Jay & Kristi's family vacation with their boys. Jay is a long time friend from Santa Cruz, CA! We met through Young Life and have traveled the country attending different YL training seminars together. I have yet to get out and visit their family but look forward to venturing west someday in the near future. Jay shot the van photo and his wife took the picture of their son on the board.
I have a lot of respect for this family and have learned tons from Jay. He does a great job of challenging me as a husband, father and believer. Jay just informed me that he is leaving YL staff... You will be missed!! The sweet thing about friendships is that you don't have to be employeed by the same organization to maintain them or live in the same state to grow together but true friendships can span over many miles just by staying connected via internet or phone or in Jay's case... Picture Mail!! YEAH!!
You guys are sweetness!!!
Thanks for sharing your photos with me and for allowing me to post them on this site!!! And yes, that is Jay's van!!!

This could be a postcard I think!

Have a great day,

Now James knows how to throw a party. There was cake, balloons, gifts, friends, grandma's and grandpa's and even great grandparents. Thankfully James and his grandparents have curfews because this bash could have gone well into the 9 o'clock hour. Thanks for the great times and for allowing me to crash your party. Oh, to turn 1 years old... How does it feel? Happy Birthday James!!

Thanks,

Haller Family Portrait

To View Slideshow...CLICK HERE

Can you say blast... I've had the opportunity get to know this family and have been given the privilege of taking their family portrait. We met at Cleary Lake Park in Prior Lake and had a great time taking all of these pictures. We beat the cold weather that arrived a couple days after our time together. I'm so glad there is NO snow in any of these photos... Thanks again you guys!!!

Enjoy,

Boys will be boys

I saw this photo in our local paper after the Minnesota Twins lost the ALDS to the Oakland A's. I was reminded that life is not about million dollar contracts, batting titles, wins or losses, ERA's, cars, lake homes, the clothes we wear, the latest toys...etc. but more so about family, friendships and those that are close to us. Here's a picture of Brad Radke (Twins ace) and Joe Mauer (catcher and batting champ) embracing each other after their loss. This is just a great reminder that after it's all said and done, it's about relationships!
It's easy for us to lose sight of the important things when the "all mighty dollar" gets in the way. I just thought this was a great reminder of the important things in life....

good night,

Too Cool for School

Sutton is on a roll....He continues to find himself getting into everything and I mean everything! It has been a lot of fun watching him explore now that he's crawling all over the house. Yesterday we found him drinking from the dog's water dish. NO JOKE!! Left arm submerged in the dish, water flowing over the sides and his right arm feeding himself the dog's water. Yuck! Once we figure out how to post video feed, you'll be able to see this with your own eyes!!
Life is pretty good right now... Young Life club tonight, the MN Twins won the Central Division, and the temps are in the 80's. I've got a number of photo shoots lined up over the next 2 weeks so please check back often so you can see the most recent photos.

Peace,
